As we work to create thriving communities across the region, it is critical that HAND members are equipped with the tools needed to act in the event of emergency. In the spirit of preparedness, HAND is pleased to present an Active Shooter Response Training as part of its Asset Management discussion group series. If you work in an asset or property management capacity, interact with residents or would like your staff to be knowledgeable on emergency procedures, join us on January 29, 2019 from 9 –11 am at Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future (SAHF) in Washington, DC for an informative course presented by Willie McElroy of Serve DC, The Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism. Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe actions to prepare and respond to active shooter incidents
  • Identify how to manage the consequences of an active shooter incident
  • Recognize potential workplace violence indicators
  • Create a workplace emergency plan
  • Learn how to safely evacuate or shelter in place during an emergency
  • Perform Hands-Only CPR and operate an AED
